Reach Aaksho(Road end) and trek to the first small lake. Expect a High to moderate accent. We will be covering Meadows; rivers and some rock fall zones.

First lake to the Glacier viewpoint. Expect a steep accent and the whole day we will be negotiating boulders and moraines, entering the glacier snout area. On this day we will trek the greatest number of steps, almost 15 km. Finally, the entire valley will open up and give us a clear view of Mt. Hagshu, Barnaj and numerous unnamed massifs and unclimbed peaks.

Trek to the base of Barnaj. We will be negotiating Glaciers, crevasses, and lateral-terminal moraines along with big boulders to finally reach the base of Barnaj I and Barnaj II Peaks. This will be the most amazing campsite you will see with Barnaj I, Barnaj II & Mt Hagshu standing right in front of the turquoise blue water of the lake. We camp by the side of the lake.

We camp at the same place and explore the area for better compositional elements.

We start early to negotiate the glacier and trek down the valley to an amazing Meadow to camp there for the night.

We reach Aaksho by the end of the day and travel back to Padum.

FAQ
Q: What is the group size like?
A: 10-12
Q: Will we be camping at different locations every day or campsites are limited to one two or three?
A: Every day we will trek 8-9 km and our campsites will be different mostly at the vantage points.
Q: What is the difficulty like
A: Moderate.
Q: From Leh to Padum will we go thru Kargil or the other route? Is there any stay at Leh or will we start traveling on the same morning when after landing at Leh?
A: We will not spend nights on leh. We will leave directly from the airport, and take the new route from Sangam to reach Padum with 3-4hrs. If the road somehow stays close we will take the singe la route. We will acclimatize at Padum for 2 nights. If anyone wants to acclimatize at Leh they have to come one day prior.
Q: Is this route along the Zanskar River?
A: Yes. From the Sangam point. Right now it stays open only on Wednesdays and Sundays. But by that time it will be fully functional.
Q: Camping will be in tents right and what size is the tent-like.. mean how many persons per tent?
A: 3 men tent for every 2 people. We will have toilet tents and dining tents as well. These are necessary.
Q: Sleeping bags will be required ?? If so Should we carry or it is a part of the package? Will be there any snow or ice??
A: A sleeping bag will be provided along with mattresses. We have one section of 2km where we will have to cross a glacier and all the ropes and ice axes will be provided.
Q: What sort of trekking gear should one carry... like normal trekking shoes or snow shoes? or waterproof shoes etc? What will be the temp range?
A: For shoes, it has to be trekking shoes that are waterproof. Temperature will be 5-10°.
